Lucknow: The Lucknow Development Authority will establish a 103-acre of special educational hub, UP’s largest, as part of Mohan Road scheme. The initiative is inspired by ‘education cities’ in Dubai and Qatar, to provide facilities for primary, secondary, higher secondary and higher education at a single location.
At a recent meeting, LDA vice chairman Prathamesh Kumar elaborated on concept of education cities, highlighting their role in fostering academic excellence and community engagement and noted that the one in Dubai hosted international universities.

He emphasised collaboration and providing libraries and research centres. Qatar’s education city, developed by its administration, features branches of prestigious universities with facilities such as sports complexes and cultural centres.
Kumar presented a detailed layout plan for Mohan Road educational city, to be organised in a grid pattern like Chandigarh and Panchkula and will comprise eight sectors, each with solid waste management systems, shopping centres, banquet halls, and vending zones. There will be rotary intersections to facilitate smooth traffic flow.
He mentioned that land acquisition was in progress for the project. To attract universities and academic investors, LDA will offer incentives, including 25% down payment option for land acquisition and flexible leasing plans. The project will include large group housing plots for educational staff, conducive for learning and living.
